An Introduction To Sports Shirts

Sports shirts constitute an important part of sportswear. It was the sports shirts that became a mandatory part of sporting events. They were used to identify players of the same team. Sports jerseys, shorts, trousers and other clothing items were later to join the sports clothing.

Fabric

Every sport has its unique requirements for sports clothing. This applies to sports shirts too as they are made from a variety of materials. For cricket, shirts are made from cotton, polyester and synthetic fibres. Woven polyester is used in these shirts to absorb perspiration while keeping the body ventilated. Synthetic fibres with greater flexibility and ventilation are increasingly being used in the making of cricket shirts.

For football, cotton is a fabric of choice though polyester is also used. Football has much shorter duration than cricket but involves plenty of physical activity. This results in profuse sweating. An ideal football shirt thus provides ample ventilation and is a good absorber of sweat.

Design

Sports shirts have seen a revolution in design. Earlier, they used to come in plain white colour with no special features. Now you will find sports shirts to have multiple layers, linings, embroidery and other designs. Coloured lining shirts have become the gold standard in many national football teams. They help the players look taller while also create a visually appealing look.

Tennis players wear polo shirts made from cotton, microfibre and other variants. Tennis sportswear tends to be simpler than other sports. Basketball players wear coloured sleeveless shirts that often contain interesting patterns. Cricket shirts now come in a captivating pattern of colours and may contain netting or other external design aspects.

Sports shirts are undergoing a constant innovation of design. Introduction of new fabrics has ensured that sportsmen now enjoy greater comfort in playing and have been able to improve their performance.
