The London Textile Fair in January 2013

London Textile Fair is one of the most prestigious textile shows in London happening next month where collection of autumn/winter and spring summer will be highlighted. It will be a showcase with over 175 exhibitors.  Looking at the history, this fair continues to expand with each event and is now a major influence on the UK fashion scene. The Fair attracts a wide range of textile mills and accessories suppliers, mainly from Europe, including companies from the UK, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal as well as some high-end manufacturers from Turkey.

During the last season fair has introduced the Print Design Studio area which was a great success. Founded in 1996, the Sustainable Cotton Project is a non-profit  organization that has worked with valley growers to produce Cleaner Cotton and bring the fiber through the textile supply chain to a wide variety of markets.  The growing popularity over the past decade, the annual Cotton Tour attracts an increasing cross section of consumers, apparel company representatives and textile industry officials from across the country.  If you wish to attend, registration is required and details are available under the events section of website http://www.sustainablecotton.org/events

The annual tour also highlights the successful efforts of SCP growers, who follow sustainable agriculture and bio intensive integrated pest management practices to reduce the application of the most toxic pesticides used in cotton production. People in the fashion industry rarely have the opportunity to experience cotton cultivation first-hand so this would be a good opportunity for them.

Burberry Prorsum dazzled its catwalk audience with bright colours in London Fashion Week

During the London Fashion Week, Burberry Prorsum dazzled its catwalk audience with bright colours on Monday. Their creative director Christopher Bailey said, “I wanted to do a collection that makes people smile. I want it to be joyous, a bit sassier and sexier.”

The brand Burberry is well known for its classic camel trench coats needed the dose of cheerfulness more than ever. In a surprise profit warning that rocked the luxury goods sector last week, the fashion house said sales have slumped and profits for the year would be at the lower end of market expectations.  This news has affected the share in stock market. The Chief Executive Angela Ahrendts praised Bailey for a collection that “reinforced the heritage of the brand in the happiest, most confident way that he could.” “For us, steady wins the race,” she said. “The sector is still strong. Burberry is incredibly strong, our foundation is there.

The brand’s signature trench coats were re-imagined in a luxurious gold lace, from hot pink-to-red and more bright metallic textured leather were presented during the glitzy catwalk. Show opened with a white silk cape draped over a rose gold bodysuit. Bailey then followed with futuristic variations on the cape, including one in silver leather and another in clear orange plastic trimmed with python leather.

Conference on 3D Fabrics and their applications will be held from 10th to 12th September, 2012

The advances in the textile-technology for 3D fabrics are diverse. Solid 3D woven fabrics, which can be made on commercial machinery either as flat panels or 3D shapes, are of prime importance in composites. They give a potential for major reductions in aircraft weight and have significant applications in military hardware. The stimulus to development given by these uses opens up vital possibilities in automotive, construction, medical and many other fields.

Nolcha Fashion Week in New York will run from 10th September to 13th 2012

Nolcha Fashion Week in New York is presented by RUSK, it is twelfth season which will run from 10^th September to 13^th including the runway presentations, fashion lounge, networking events, parties and an official closing event of the fashion week.  This event has been a success for the past five years, it is held simultaneously with Mercedes-Benz Fashion week. Munich Fabric Start is an International Fabric Trade Fair, exclusively for trade visitors, from 4^th to 6^th September in Munich Order Center, Germany.

TCL2012 in November at the Valencia Conference Centre, Spain

The International Conference on Textile Coating and Laminating 2012 will be held at Valencia Conference Centre from November 15 – 16, 2012. International experts will discuss topics including; developments in coating and laminating technology, coating materials, end-use applications, and testing.  Subjects for discussion will include the latest updates on coatings for flame retardancy, heat resistance, water repellency, weather resistance, and ballistic protection, technologies such as plasma technology, UV curing, infrared treatment and hot melt systems, and coating materials including nanocoatings, ceramic coatings, silicone coatings and hot melt coatings, along with intelligent coatings and laminates.

The provisional schedule for London Fashion Week has been announced from 14^th September to 18^th September at Somerset House, London. Mark your calendar for the event and get registered for plenty of catwalks kicking off with Antoni & Alison on the Friday morning.  New presentations to the schedule include Lucas Nascimento and Marques Almeida as part of Newgen, Willow and Huishan Zhang.

Exhibition will have merchandised showcased by Newgen, Topshop, Estethica, Headonism, Ascot Racecourse, Alain Quilici, Alejandro Ingelmo, Julian Hakes, Kat Maconie, Bernstock Speirs, Emma J Shipley, Huishan Zhang and Lucas Nascimento.
